For the 58th Venice Bienalle, an exhibition called THE SPARK IS YOU: Parasol unit in Venice will be presented in Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia, by the Parasol unit foundation for contemporary arts.
The exhibition explores the work of 9 iranian artists , Morteza Ahmadvand, Nazgol Ansarinia, Siah Armajani, Mitra Farahani, Sahand Hesamiyan, Y.Z. Kami, Farideh Lashai, Koushna Navabi, and Navid Nuur.
THE SPARK IS YOU: Parasol unit in Venice aims to connect the works of these artists with the classical Persian poetry, giving the public a chance to look beyond space, time and art form.
Curated by Ziba Ardalan, Founder, Artistic and Executive Director of Parasol unit, London, THE SPARK IS YOU: Parasol unit in Venice exhibition has at its heart the need to develop mutual respect and understanding between different nations and cultures.
The public will enjoy paintings, sculptures, installations, multi-media and films that bring together those iranian artists with the rest of the world. Each artist presents their work in a separate room or an outdoor courtyard, which allows ample mental space for viewers to reflect on the exhibition and create their own dialogue with and between the works.
Alongside the exhibition dates, poetry readings will be performed by Narguess Farzad and Matt Addis at the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia, on 9 and 10 May 2019.
